Porting Phone Numbers
One of the first steps when onboarding with our voice platform is to prepare for porting your numbers. Phone number porting is the process of transferring a phone number from one provider to a different provider. Currently SendSquared uses Twilio as our phone carrier.
To start the process you will need to gather all phone numbers from your current carrier that you will want the calls to route through our platform. These are often a mix of toll free and local numbers. Keep in mind, you will not be porting over direct dial numbers for employees, but only the general numbers such as calls coming into the main resort lines or route to any sort of auto attendant.
Once the phone numbers are gathered, then an LOA (Letter of Authorization) will need to be filled out fully by the current carrier account owner which will be provided to you by SendSquared. A recent phone bill or invoice will also need to be provided back with the LOA that lists our the current phone numbers. These details will need to be provided back to the SendSquared onboarding team. The documents will be submitted on your behalf and then submitted to your current provider for approval. Once approval is received the two carriers will coordinate the date that the numbers will transfer. Depending on the provider this can take anywhere from 3-6 weeks.
Note: You will remain in ownership of these numbers, but we will house and manage them for you with our phone provider. The transferring of the numbers does sometimes vary depending on your current phone provider and the SendSquared team will help guide you through the process so ensure there is no down time of phone service.
